How to Get to Hoyvík
Hoyvík is a suburb of Tórshavn on Streymoy and is best reached via Vágar Airport (FAE). There are no railways - onward travel is by bus, taxi or car; local buses from Tórshavn make reaching Hoyvík quick and straightforward.
Vágar Airport (FAE): Vágar is the Faroe Islands’ only airport serving international flights. From FAE you can take the airport bus to Tórshavn (route and operator vary seasonally) which takes about 45-50 minutes; single fares are typically in the range of DKK 75-100 (check current operator fares). Tórshavn is a short drive from Hoyvík.
By plane via Denmark/Iceland: Many international travellers connect to the Faroes through Reykjavík (Iceland) or Copenhagen (Denmark) - those flights arrive at FAE in scheduled services. From FAE onward, the same bus/taxi options to Tórshavn/Hoyvík apply (45-60 minutes by road from the airport to Hoyvík area).
Train: There are no train services in the Faroe Islands.
Bus: Hoyvík is effectively a suburb/neighbourhood of Tórshavn and is served by Tórshavn’s local bus network (operated by Strandfaraskip Landsins / local municipal services).
