Borðoy is an island in the Norðoyar (Northern Islands) group of the Faroe Islands, in the North Atlantic. It is the location of the archipelago’s second-largest town, Klaksvík.

The island features steep coastal cliffs, sheltered fjords and small settlements focused on fishing and maritime activity. Road connections and short sea crossings link it to neighbouring islands in the northern Faroes.

Settled in the Norse period, Borðoy’s economy has long been centred on fishing and fish processing, with modern services concentrated in Klaksvík. The island sits within the rugged, oceanic landscape typical of the Faroes and is part of the autonomous territory of Denmark.

Borðoy lies in the northeast of the Faroe archipelago and forms part of the Norðoyar administrative region, with Klaksvík as the island’s principal harbour and transport hub.
