Pasir Putih Travel Guide

Pasir Putih is a popular tourist resort on East Java|Java’s north coast, west of Situbondo. It has a stunning location between mountains and sea and comes with white sands and good water sports options.

The main pastimes on this gorgeous concave beach are bathing, swimming and diving. Windsurfing and especially sailing are also popular in Pasir Putih, while traditional fishing boat competitions are regularly staged. The Petik Laut festival in October is the main traditional feast for fishermen.

Pasir Putih is loaded with hotels, caf├ęs and restaurants with seafood being the number one tourist choice here. Pasir Putih also has something of an oversupply of art and souvenir shops, with wooden handicraft items galore. Apart from the beach at Pasir Putih, there is hiking in the nearby hills and wonderful sunsets from high up.

Getting There & Away

Pasir Putih is about equidistant between Surabaya, the East Java capital, and Denpasar in Bali. There are major airports at both locations, but flying to Surabaya and taking a bus or train down to Pasir Putih is the easier option. Flight times to Surabaya from Jakarta are around an hour. Bus journeys to Pasir Putih from Surabaya via Probolinggo take 4 hours, or 2 hours from Banyuwangi when heading from Bali.
