July in the north is dry and relatively breezy; Pemba and the coastal villages are comfortable for walking and kite-surfing, and visibility for snorkelling improves. Nights inland can be noticeably cool, especially near Lake Niassa and higher ground, so a warm layer for camp nights is wise. Tourist crowds remain light compared with southern high season, meaning easier booking for lodges in Niassa Reserve. Expect arid trails and good road conditions for game drives and village visits.

July continues the dry spell with crisp mornings and warm days that are perfect for game drives in Gorongosa and for boat trips on the Zambezi Delta. The central coast is calm, and sea conditions improve for short coastal excursions though visibility for diving varies with local currents. A light jacket for early mornings is useful inland.
