Caspian Coast (Türkmenbaşy & Awaza)

February still feels cool and breezy on the Caspian; the water is cold and most beach facilities remain closed. Fishing towns like Türkmenbaşy are atmospheric - works by the fishermen and empty boulevards make for good off-season exploration. Bring a warm jacket for seaside gusts and be ready for wet pavement from occasional coastal drizzle.

Kopet Dag Foothills & Ashgabat

February mornings still bite with a winter chill, though daytime sun quickly warms pavements in Ashgabat. The Kopet Dag ridges retain snow patches, which make the low-elevation vistas dramatic but muddy on approaches. Head indoors to museums and marble-clad public buildings during the colder parts of the day and pack insulated footwear if you plan short hikes.
