Exploring Phnom Nam Lear Sanctuary#
Phnom Nam Lear Sanctuary is one of Mondulkiri’s finest areas for wildlife viewing, an almost idyllic setting with a diverse collection of flora and fauna. It is best known for a striking series of cliffs and waterways, along with several waterfalls to trek to and cool off in, and it is a particular favourite with birdwatchers for its mix of endemic and migratory species.
Treks are organised from Sen Monorom by four-wheel-drive vehicle. Visitors may camp in the reserve or stay in one of several small cottages for a little more comfort. The journey from Sen Monorom is a pleasure in itself, running for around four hours along winding country roads and through beautiful forest.

Visit in the cool, dry season (November-February) for easier hiking and better wildlife visibility.
