Terai & Southern Plains (Chitwan, Lumbini, Biratnagar)

November stays dry and comfortable with very pleasant daytime temperatures around 20-28°C and crisp, mosquito-light evenings; mornings are often mist-free, improving visibility for birding and wildlife. Tourist traffic increases as international visitors arrive for wildlife and rafting season; pack midweight layers for cool mornings but leave heavy winter gear behind. This is a prime month to combine jungle time with short cultural detours.

Kathmandu Valley & Central Hills (Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur, Nagarkot)

November remains cool and dry with excellent mountain visibility and comfortable daytime temperatures in the high teens to low 20s°C. The valley is lively with festival spillover and urban trekking stays pleasurable on well-defined trails. Nights are cooler - bring a warm jacket - and pollution may rise slightly on still evenings, but days are ideal for photography and temple visits.

Pokhara, Annapurna & Western Hills (Pokhara, Poon Hill, Annapurna Circuit lower sections)

November remains dry and pleasantly cool with long daylight and excellent mountain viewing; trekking conditions are stable and high-altitude passes are generally open and safe. Tourist numbers stay high through mid-November but taper toward month’s end; this is a prime window for multi-day treks or a short hike paired with boating on Phewa Lake. Nights get colder - bring an insulating sleeping bag for higher-altitude teahouses.

Mustang & Trans-Himalaya (Upper Mustang, Muktinath, Jomsom)

November cools rapidly after sunsets, producing very clear winter-like air with excellent visibility; daytime treks remain enjoyable but high passes begin to show early snowfall toward month’s end. Must-have gear includes a good sleeping bag and down jacket for overnight stops, and plan for limited services as remote lodges start to reduce offerings for the off-season. Flights to Jomsom can be erratic with early winter winds.
