Jordan in June: Weather, Crowds & What to Expect

Northern Highlands (Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash)

High-pressure dominance brings dry conditions and steadily rising temperatures that push into the high twenties and occasionally thirties on exposed hills. Rain is practically absent and trails harden, though shade is sparse on open ridgelines around Ajloun; bring plenty of water for hikes. Nights stay mild, which suits evening strolls in small towns like Irbid; avoid mid-day exertion if visiting in the heat of the day.

Central Highlands (Amman, Madaba, Salt)

High summer is well established by June: dry, hot afternoons reach the high twenties to low thirties and urban heat islands are noticeable in lower neighborhoods. Evenings cool more than in the Jordan Valley, but daytime sightseeing benefits from early starts to avoid the sun. If you’re basing in Amman for urban exploring, lightweight clothing, sun protection and plenty of water are essential.

Jordan Valley & Dead Sea

Summer peaks in June with strong, unrelenting heat; highs commonly touch the high thirties and humidity is usually low but the sun is fierce at the Dead Sea’s surface. Outdoor activities are best scheduled before 09:00 or after 17:00; resort pools and shaded promenades provide the main daytime relief. Hydration, a wide-brim hat and high-SPF sunscreen are non-negotiable.
