Northern Highlands (Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash)
Midsummer is the warmest period here with hot, dry afternoons frequently in the low to mid-thirties, especially on southern-facing slopes and lower valleys. Evenings cool more than in the Jordan Valley, so open-air cafes in Irbid and Jerash feel pleasant after sunset. There is almost no rain; light, breathable clothing and early starts for outdoor activities will make visits much more comfortable.
Central Highlands (Amman, Madaba, Salt)
July brings the warmest and driest conditions of the year - blue skies, little chance of rain and daytime highs typically in the low to mid-thirties in the city centre. Night temperatures remain pleasant and you’ll find lively rooftop terraces after dark. For city tours and walking, plan activities for early morning or late afternoon; air-conditioned museums and galleries offer comfortable mid-day respite.
Jordan Valley & Dead Sea
July and August are the hottest months, with long, dry afternoons frequently exceeding 40°C in the lowest parts of the valley and the Dead Sea shoreline. Many visitors time their floating sessions for early morning or after sun-down to avoid extreme radiation and heat stress. Nights cool a little but remain warm; light sleepwear and air conditioning are common in hotels here.
