Winter fully asserts itself with frequent storms and chilly nights that occasionally fall below freezing on the highest slopes. Snow is not unheard of on the upper ridgelines around Ajloun and the odd flurry can reach Jerash and higher parts of Irbid governorate, disrupting rural travel for a day or two. Warm layers, waterproof boots and flexible schedules are essential if you plan to explore in December.
Amman, Madaba, Salt
December ushers in cooler, wetter weather and occasional freezing nights at higher Amman elevations; short, bright days alternate with wide frontal systems.
