Representative figures from each country's largest city. High / low are average daily temperatures (°C); “Feels” allows for humidity.

Western Asia & the Middle East (Turkey, Levant - Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Arabian Peninsula - Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen)

Cold inland nights and brisk mornings are common across the region, with mountain ski areas in Turkey and Iran at their busiest and the Mediterranean coast still experiencing rainy spells. Riyadh and much of the Arabian interior are cool and dry by day but can be chilly after sunset, whereas Beirut and Tel Aviv alternate grey, rainy days with clear afternoons - a waterproof shell and insulating mid-layer make itineraries flexible.

Central Asia & the Caspian Steppe (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan)

Transitioning toward spring brings warming afternoons and continued frosty mornings: Tashkent begins to thaw, and the first brown-green flush appears in lowland steppe near Astana. Strong, dry winds can pick up and clear skies make for excellent light for photography of the Silk Road architecture, but dust devils are common; bring sunglasses and layers for wide temperature swings between day and night.

Siberia & the Russian Far East (Yakutia/Sakha, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Kamchatka, Vladivostok and Magadan)

A slow thaw starts in southern Siberia: Irkutsk and the shores of Baikal move from hard winter to slushy conditions with increasing daylight, though pockets of severe cold can return. Coastal Kamchatka still holds significant snow and spring avalanche risk, and early melt makes rivers impassable in places - travelers must expect muddy transitions and limited ferry schedules.

The Himalaya & Tibetan Plateau (Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet/Autonomous Region, Sikkim and northern Indian ranges)

Late-winter sun makes lower-altitude trekking approaches around the Annapurna foothills clearer, but higher passes are still treacherous and many lodges remain closed. The Tibetan Plateau stays bitterly cold and very dry with intense ultraviolet exposure - sun protection and good layers are essential. Flight schedules to mountain airstrips can be affected by variable winds and snow at higher altitudes.

South Asia (India excluding high Himalaya, Pakistan lowlands, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives)

Heat starts building in the plains, especially in central and northwestern India where pre-monsoon temperatures climb; Hyderabad and Lahore experience increasingly warm afternoons. Coastal regions remain fairly comfortable, but humidity rises in the south; Sri Lanka warms while retaining pleasant nights. Travelers should plan outdoor sightseeing for early morning or late afternoon and stay hydrated in rising pre-monsoon heat.

East Asia (China - coastal and central provinces, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan)

A seasonal thaw begins in some central Chinese provinces with river mist over the Yangtze and snow retreat in lower elevations; Sapporo and northern Japan still offer strong skiing opportunities. South Korea’s cities are crisp and good for museum and café time, and Taiwan is pleasantly warm. Spring festivals start to appear in early planning, so check domestic holiday calendars for high-demand weekends.

Southeast Asia (Mainland: Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar; Maritime: Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Borneo, Timor)

Pre-monsoon convection triggers sharp, afternoon thunderstorms on the mainland and frequent downpours on parts of the maritime archipelago; humidity peaks in lowlands like Ho Chi Minh City and the Irrawaddy Delta. The tourist pressure shifts to highland retreats and cooler northern Vietnam, while Bali and parts of Indonesia may already be in a drier spell. Bring a compact umbrella and expect short but intense rain bursts.
