How to Get to Tabaquite
Tabaquite lies inland on Trinidad; international arrivals use Piarco International Airport (POS) near Port of Spain, then continue by road. There is no passenger rail-buses and shared maxi-taxis are the primary public transport to and from the town.
Piarco International Airport (POS): The main international airport for Trinidad, near Port of Spain. To reach central and southwestern Trinidad (including Couva-Tabaquite-Talparo) you can take a taxi (~TT$60-120; 30-60 minutes depending on exact destination) or a private transfer; public buses also run from Piarco to Port of Spain and connecting hubs (travel time 45-75 minutes).
A.N.R. Robinson International Airport (TAB): Located in Tobago (Crown Point) and useful only if you are coming from or connecting through Tobago; to reach Tabaquite (on Trinidad) you would need a domestic flight or ferry to Trinidad plus onward road travel-this is not a practical arrival point for Tabaquite.
Train: Trinidad and Tobago does not have a passenger railway network; there are no train services to Tabaquite.
Bus / Maxi-taxi: Public buses and privately operated maxi-taxis (shared minivans) are the common public transport. From Port of Spain or Couva you can catch buses or maxi-taxis toward Tabaquite; fares typically range from TT$8-15 within the island for short hops, with longer inter-regional trips costing more (up to ~TT$25-35). Travel times depend on origin-Couva to Tabaquite is generally under an hour by road.
