About Maracas Bay

Maracas Bay is a crescent-shaped sandy beach on the north coast of Trinidad, in the island’s Northern Range area. It is among Trinidad’s most popular public beaches.

The bay offers a wide stretch of sand backed by coconut palms and steep, forested hills, with waves that attract swimmers and bodyboarders. Food stalls and roadside vendors near the parking area make it a culinary as well as a beach destination.

Maracas Bay has long been a recreational destination for residents of Port of Spain and surrounding communities and grew in popularity with improved road access in the 20th century. It remains a primary coastal leisure site for weekend and holiday visitors.

The beach sits on the north coast of Trinidad, reached from the capital Port of Spain via the scenic North Coast Road; the bay is enclosed by the island’s northern hills.
