March mornings feel like early spring as wildflowers begin to appear on terraced orchards around Nizwa and the high peaks warm to the high teens°C by day. Snowmelt runs in mountain wadis and small waterfalls can swell after winter rains, improving gorge walks. Early-season hikers should still carry warm layers for cold nights and expect muddy trails in shaded ravines.
Sharqiyah Sands, desert wadis, Ras al Hadd approaches
March features increasingly warm days that make mid-morning and late-afternoon dune outings ideal; highs often reach the low 20s°C. Whale and dolphin sightings are possible on offshore trips and the beaches are pleasant for walking. Pack light clothing and a windbreaker for occasional breezy afternoons.
