How to Get to Kunoy

Kunoy (Faroe Islands) is reached via Vágar Airport (FAE); onward travel is by road and public bus or by rental car. There are no trains in the Faroes-public buses and ferries/tunnels link the islands, and the Norðoyar/Klaksvík area is the usual staging point for Kunoy.

By Air

Vágar Airport (FAE): Vágar is the Faroe Islands’ only airport and the usual entry point for Kunoy. From Vágar you can continue by rental car or public bus to the Norðoyar region (Klaksvík), which is the nearest larger town to Kunoy-journey times are typically around 1-2 hours depending on connections and route. Taxis are available at the airport but can be expensive for the full cross‑island journey.

(No other major airports): There are no other regular international airports serving Kunoy; all scheduled international flights arrive at Vágar.

By Train & Bus

Train: There are no rail services in the Faroe Islands.

Bus / Ferry: Public transport is operated locally (buses and inter-island ferries/tunnels). Buses connect Vágar, Tórshavn and the Norðoyar region (including Klaksvík), and from Klaksvík you can reach Kunoy by local road/tunnel or a short boat transfer depending on exact locality.
