Pursat town’s main attraction is a 50-metre-long island park in the shape of a boat, with tidy lawns, seating and Khmer-style pavilions set along it. According to legend, a boat ran aground here and, after villagers were unable to dislodge it, it eventually became overgrown and turned into an island.
Beyond the park are several riverside dining options where it is pleasant to watch children playing in the water. The setting is laid-back and rustic, with the calm river and simple, welcoming hospitality of the local community making for an easy hour or two on foot.
