How to Get to Hikkaduwa
Hikkaduwa is a coastal town on Sri Lanka's southern coast reachable by train on the Coastal Line or by road from Bandaranaike Airport (CMB). Trains from Colombo are frequent and are the best budget option; private transfers are faster and more comfortable.
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB): Colombo’s main airport is the primary gateway for Hikkaduwa. From CMB you can travel by road to Hikkaduwa by private transfer or bus; driving time is roughly 2.5-3.5 hours depending on traffic. Private transfers are the quickest and most convenient choice for beach-bound luggage.
Mattala Rajapaksa International (HRI): Mattala is farther in the south and less frequently used; from HRI the drive to Hikkaduwa is long and not commonly chosen by international travellers.
