How to Get to Beruwala
Beruwala on Sri Lanka's southwest coast is most easily reached from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) near Colombo. From Colombo you can take the coastal train (Colombo Fort → Beruwala) for a scenic, economical trip or use buses and taxis along Galle Road for more direct transfers.
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB): Colombo’s main international airport is the gateway for Beruwala. From CMB you can reach Beruwala by road (taxi or car hire directly from the airport, about 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic) or by transferring into Colombo and taking the coastal train or bus.
Ratmalana Airport (RML): Ratmalana is a smaller airport serving domestic flights and some regional services; it is less commonly used by international visitors heading to Beruwala.
Train: The Sri Lanka Railways Coastal Line runs from Colombo Fort south to Galle, stopping at Beruwala. Trains from Colombo Fort to Beruwala take roughly 1.5-2 hours depending on the service; second-class fares are inexpensive (typically a few hundred Sri Lankan rupees) and offer a scenic coastal trip.
