City life continues in Bissau, though inland excursions become sluggish and some rural roads are impassable without 4x4s.

Bijagós (Bissagos) Archipelago

June’s rains intensify and daily downpours are common, but the tides and an influx of freshwater create prolific fish and bird feeding grounds - a good month for serious wildlife photographers who can tolerate wet gear. Sea crossings become less predictable and small craft may cancel; plan extra days for transfers and bring zip-sealed bags for camera equipment.
