Road conditions start to change late in April, so if you’re heading to rural areas or the southern mangroves, check with locals about ferry timetables and boat availability.

Bijagós (Bissagos) Archipelago

April is the month when humidity ramps up and the first squalls can arrive at any time; afternoons can turn from sunshine to heavy showers. For island-hopping this means keeping itineraries flexible, as crossings may be postponed by sudden storms.
