How to Get to Bang Niang
Bang Niang (Khao Lak area) is best reached through Phuket (HKT) or Krabi (KBV) airports and then by shared minivan or taxi. There's no local rail service; roads and shared transfers are the normal options.
Phuket International Airport (HKT): Phuket is the nearest large airport for Bang Niang (the Khao Lak/Bang Niang area). From HKT take the airport bus or a shared minivan to Khao Lak/Bang Niang (about 1.5-2 hours); fares for shared transfers are commonly 200-400 THB and private taxis typically cost 1,200-2,000 THB depending on luggage.
Krabi International Airport (KBV): Krabi is another option, slightly farther by road. Shared transfers or private taxis from KBV to Bang Niang take about 2-2.5 hours; shared minivans commonly charge 300-600 THB and private taxis are more expensive.
Train: There is no rail line directly serving Bang Niang/Khao Lak; the nearest major railway station is Surat Thani. From Surat Thani Railway Station you can continue by bus or minivan to Khao Lak/Bang Niang (about 2.5-3.5 hours, 300-600 THB).
Bus: Direct long-distance buses and minivans run from Phuket, Krabi and from Bangkok (Southern Bus Terminal) to Khao Lak and Bang Niang. Travel times vary: Phuket→Bang Niang ~1.5-2 hours (200-400 THB), Bangkok→Bang Niang overnight buses ~10-14 hours (700-1,000 THB).
