How to Get to Wichit
Wichit is a district just south of Phuket Town; most visitors arrive through Phuket International Airport (HKT). The simplest ways into Wichit are airport shuttle minibuses or taxis - for island travel, local songthaews and rental scooters/cars are commonly used.
Phuket International Airport (HKT): Phuket’s airport is the island’s main gateway, about 18 km north of Wichit/Phuket Town. From HKT you can take the airport shuttle minibus to Phuket Town (and Wichit-area hotels) - shuttles typically take 30-45 minutes and are commonly priced around 100-200 THB per passenger. Metered taxis and airport taxis are available at the arrivals rank; a taxi to Wichit usually takes 20-30 minutes and typically costs in the range of 300-500 THB depending on traffic and exact drop-off.
Other options: Rental cars and motorbike hire are widely available at the airport; allow for local driving conditions and parking in Phuket Town.
Train: There is no passenger rail on Phuket Island.
Bus: The airport shuttle and local intercity buses serve Phuket Town. Phuket Town has two bus terminals: Terminal 1 (long-distance) and Terminal 2 (southern routes). Songthaews (shared pickup trucks) operate around Wichit and Phuket Town for short hops - fares are cheap (typically a few tens of THB) and they are useful for getting around locally.
