Copenhagen Airport (CPH): Direct regional trains run from CPH to København H (Copenhagen Central). The airport train to København H takes about 13 minutes and a single adult ticket is typically around 36 DKK. From København H you can change to the S-train (S-tog) toward Værløse; total door-to-door time from the airport to Værløse is commonly 40-50 minutes depending on connections.
Roskilde Airport / small airfields: Roskilde (RKE) and smaller GA airfields serve private and charter flights only; they do not offer scheduled public transport links to Værløse. If arriving there you’ll need a taxi or private transfer to the rail network (prices vary).
Train: Værløse is served by the Copenhagen S-train network at Værløse Station (S-tog). Typical journeys to København H take about 25-35 minutes on the S-train; single fares within the Capital Region depend on zones - expect roughly 24-48 DKK for standard single tickets. Use Rejsekort/contactless for the best fares on trains.
Bus: Local Movia buses connect Værløse with nearby suburbs and towns; journey times are short (10-30 minutes depending on direction). Bus fares are zone-based and similar to S-train prices - purchase on the app, from drivers (cash), or use Rejsekort.
How to Get Around Værløse#
The S-train is the practical backbone for trips to/from Værløse; combine it with local Movia buses for last-mile journeys. For most visitors a combination of S-train + walking (or a short taxi) works best.
- S-train (S-tog) (24-48 DKK) - The S-train is the most convenient way to reach central Copenhagen and other suburbs from Værløse. Trains are frequent (every 10-20 minutes off-peak) and have good bicycle storage. Use Rejsekort or buy a single-ticket from machines; expect 24-48 DKK depending on zones.
- DSB regional trains (36-200+ DKK) - Regional and intercity DSB trains run from København H to destinations outside the S-network. For some journeys you may change at København H. Ticket prices vary by distance; book longer regional trips in advance for better prices.
- Movia buses (24-48 DKK) - Movia buses cover local routes not reached by S-train and are useful for short hops in the area. Buses accept Rejsekort and cash (exact fare). Frequency is lower evenings/weekends so check timetables.
- Taxi / Ride-hail (Taxa) (200-450 DKK) - Taxis are widely available for door-to-door travel if you have luggage or late-night needs. A ride to central Copenhagen typically costs several hundred DKK depending on traffic; ride-hail apps exist but fares are comparable to traditional taxis.
- Bicycle - Cycling is convenient for short local journeys - Denmark has excellent cycling infrastructure. Many S-trains allow bicycles outside peak hours; consider renting a bike for local exploration.
