Take Danish rail services north from Copenhagen to Hillerød for Frederiksborg Castle and to Helsingør (Kronborg Castle) on the coastal (Kystbanen) line. These train journeys take under an hour for Helsingør and about the same or slightly longer for Hillerød by regional/S‑train services.
By car, head north out of Copenhagen on the E47/E55 corridor to the North Zealand towns; once in Hillerød or Helsingør the major castles and parkland are a short walk or local bus/taxi ride from the railway stations.
