How to Get to Tacuba
Tacuba is a municipality in Ahuachapán Department of El Salvador reached by road from San Salvador. International visitors arrive at Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport (SAL) and continue by bus, shuttle or car to Tacuba. There is no passenger rail service in regular use.
Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport (SAL): El Salvador’s main international airport near San Salvador. From SAL you must travel overland to Tacuba (Ahuachapán Department); the drive usually takes around 2-3 hours depending on traffic and route.
Ilopango (private / domestic): Ilopango operates limited domestic and private flights and is not normally used for international arrivals; most travellers use SAL for international flights.
Train: El Salvador does not currently have an operational national passenger rail service that would serve Tacuba.
Bus: Intercity buses and colectivos run from San Salvador and Ahuachapán to Tacuba and surrounding towns. Travel times from San Salvador to Tacuba are roughly 2-3 hours depending on service and traffic. Buses are the most common public option and are very affordable; schedules vary so check local terminals for times.

Tacuba is a small town best navigated on foot for short trips around the central area and church. Local buses and colectivos connect Tacuba with nearby towns in Ahuachapán; taxis are available but services can be limited, so check schedules before travelling.
