Mahé - Victoria, Beau Vallon and West Coast

January’s heat often lingers into early February but the biggest changes are in rainfall patterns rather than temperature. Short, heavy showers break up long humid spells on Mahé, and the mountain slopes of Morne Seychellois throw cloud and mist down onto Victoria. Water-based activities remain easy from Beau Vallon to Anse Intendance when the sea is calm; bring quick-dry clothing and a lightweight waterproof for sudden squalls, and expect beaches to be popular with locals and visitors alike.

Mahé Highlands - Morne Seychellois and upland trails

Mist clings to the upper slopes of Morne Seychellois in February and the forest canopy often drips from heavy overnight rains, producing spectacular waterfalls on routes to Copolia and Cascade. Daytime temperatures remain mild compared with the coast, and humidity is high under the canopy; insects can be more persistent, so bring repellent and long sleeves. Expect fewer beach crowds as most visitors stick to coastal activities, making the highlands a peaceful escape if you don’t mind wet trails.

Praslin & La Digue - Inner granitic islands and beaches

February’s high humidity and heat continue, making early mornings the best time to visit Vallée de Mai for cooler, insect-active birdwatching and to avoid midday sun at Anse Lazio. Afternoon thunderstorms become more frequent; they renew the islands’ freshwater pools and the granite boulder-scapes look saturated and deep in color. If you plan to bike around La Digue, mornings are ideal - carry a rain jacket and a good sun hat for sudden bright spells.

Outer Islands & Atolls - Aldabra, Farquhar, Alphonse and more remote coralline islands

February continues the pattern of strong sunlight and intermittent heavy rains on the outer islands; salt pans and exposed reef flats bake between showers and freshwater collection points on small islands fill when storms pass. Marine operations are more cautious in this season because swell from distant systems can make landings tricky; researchers and expedition travelers typically schedule visits with flexible dates. Pack abundant sun protection, a wide-brim hat and water-purification options for remote stays.
