How to Get to Rizokarpaso#
Rizokarpaso (Dipkarpaz) is remote on the Karpas Peninsula and best reached by road. Flying into Larnaca or Ercan and arranging a rental car or private transfer for the long drive is the most practical approach; public-bus options are limited.
Ercan Airport (ECN) / Larnaca (LCA) or Paphos (PFO): Rizokarpaso (Dipkarpaz) sits in the far northeast of Cyprus. Travel arrangements depend on which side of the island you fly into: flights to Ercan (Northern Cyprus) or to Larnaca/Paphos (Republic of Cyprus) are common. From either side you will need an overland transfer - driving is the usual option and border-crossing rules apply.
Nearest main airports: Larnaca (LCA) is the principal international airport for the Republic of Cyprus; Ercan (ECN) serves Northern Cyprus (most international flights route via Turkey). From either airport, the journey to Rizokarpaso is long (several hours) and typically requires a rental car or prearranged transfer.
Train: There is no passenger rail network on Cyprus.
Bus: Public intercity buses operate on the Republic of Cyprus side but services to the Karpasia/Rizokarpaso area are limited and subject to political/administrative restrictions in the north. In practice, most travellers access Rizokarpaso by car or private transfer; check up-to-date border and transport information before travel.

Distances are long and services sparse, so carry fuel and supplies. Confirm border-crossing rules and rental-car policies if crossing between northern and southern Cyprus.
- Private transfer / taxi - Prebooked transfers from Larnaca, Nicosia or Ercan can be arranged and are advisable if you prefer not to drive. Expect higher costs but a direct, reliable route into the peninsula.
- Local bus (limited) - Local bus services on the Karpas Peninsula are infrequent and seasonal; they are not a dependable option for strict schedules. Investigate current timetables locally if you prefer public transport.
- Cycling - For adventurous travellers, cycling in the area is possible but distances and exposed roads mean this is best for experienced cyclists prepared for remote conditions and little roadside support.
- Walking - Rizokarpaso village is small and easily walked; walking is the main way to move within the village and to visit nearby beaches and landmarks.
