Ochheuteal Beach is an urban sandy beach in Sihanoukville (Preah Sihanouk Province), on the Gulf of Thailand and one of the municipality’s principal city beaches.

The shoreline is lined with guesthouses, restaurants, bars and small tour operators, and functions as a departure point for boat trips to nearby islands. Beachside services and establishments are concentrated along the road behind the sand rather than large resort complexes.

The beach developed as part of Sihanoukville’s coastal tourism area and is frequently paired on itineraries with nearby beaches such as Serendipity and Otres. It is primarily used for swimming, sunbathing, evening dining and island-hopping departures.

Ochheuteal sits just east of Sihanoukville town center on Cambodia’s southern coast, facing the Gulf of Thailand.

• Island boat connections: Regular boat departures to nearby islands such as Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem operate from piers in the Sihanoukville area.
• Sunset and nightlife: Popular for sunset views and an active beachside stretch of bars, guesthouses, and restaurants that line the sand.

Ochheuteal Beach is the focus of tourism development on the Sihanoukville coast: a 3 km arc of white sand once fringed with casuarina trees, much of which has given way to building along the shore. Its northernmost end is known as Serendipity Beach, where a small hillside “town” of guesthouses, restaurants, shops and bars lines the road running from the Golden Lion traffic circle down to the pier.

The pier marks the western end of Ochheuteal. To the east, a long, thin strip of white sand runs for several kilometres past one beachside bar and restaurant after another, a walking path threading between the businesses and the cushions and chairs set out on the sand; the beachfront thins out towards the quieter southern end. West of the pier, a walking path connects Ochheuteal to neighbouring Sokha Beach past a run of small seaside resorts with balconied bungalows, though the coast here is rocky rather than sandy.

The Serendipity “town” on the hill above the beach is where most of the scuba shops are found, and it is the main place to book island trips and the resorts out on the islands.

Sihanoukville is served by national buses from Phnom Penh (about 4-5 hours by road) and by a small domestic airport. Within Sihanoukville, tuk-tuks and motorbike taxis run frequently to Ochheuteal Beach from the town centre; it’s a 10-15 minute ride depending on traffic.

• Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid the strongest sun and to see the beach's fishing boats return.
• Head to the stretch near the center for the livelier beach bars and seafood restaurants; the ends of the beach are quieter and better for a long walk.
• Watch for vendors selling local grilled seafood and coconut water-these are some of the best, freshest options on the beach.
