Mas sits within Gianyar Regency just outside the town of Ubud in central Bali, reachable by short road journeys from Ubud’s center.

Exploring Mas

A number of furniture makers can be found at the far end of the village, producing rattan items such as tables, chairs and even beds to order. These sell for a fraction of the cost of their Western counterparts, and even after shipping most visitors walk away with a real bargain. Those keen to try their hand at these traditional crafts can enrol on a course catering both for newcomers and for those with a little experience.

Mas lies about four kilometres south of Ubud, an easy walk of under an hour for anyone who enjoys hiking through the countryside; buses also run between the two at regular intervals.

How to Get to Mas

Mas lies approximately 5-10 minutes’ drive south of central Ubud on Jalan Raya Ubud / Jalan Mas. It is easily reached by taxi or scooter from Ubud’s centre.
