Hat Phra Ae

Hat Phra Ae, commonly called Long Beach, is a principal sandy beach on Koh Lanta in Krabi province, Thailand. It is known for an extended shoreline, shallow water in parts and a range of guesthouses and restaurants facing the sea.

The beach is used for swimming, strolling and watching sunset and is one of the island’s main visitor hubs outside the main town. Accommodation ranges from budget bungalows to mid-range resorts oriented toward beach-front stays.

Koh Lanta developed as a tourism destination from the late 20th century, growing from small fishing communities into an island economy with guesthouses, dive operators and visitor services; Hat Phra Ae became a central beachfront area in that process. The beach continues to host local residents alongside tourism facilities.

Hat Phra Ae lies on the western coast of Koh Lanta Yai in Krabi province, accessible by ferry and road connections from the mainland and nearby islands. It is part of the island’s main coastal corridor.

• Hat Phra Ae (Long Beach) is on Ko Lanta and is most convenient from Saladan - use the island's main road/Saladan area as your access point to avoid confusing small lanes.
• Go early morning or late afternoon: mornings are best for a quiet swim and late afternoons for broad west-facing sunsets; mid-day is when island day-trippers make the sand busy.
• Walk to the southern rocky point if you want fewer people and better viewpoints - most visitors concentrate on the central beach strip and miss the quieter headlands.
