Hat Khlong Dao
Beach
Long sandy beach on Ko Lanta with shallow swimming, beachfront bungalows and seafood stalls; a popular spot for sunset walks and family stays.
Hat Khlong Dao is a principal beach on the west coast of Koh Lanta island in Krabi province, Thailand, known for a long, gently sloping sandy shoreline of about 3 kilometers.
The beach’s shallow, sheltered water and broad sand make it suitable for family swimming and evening walks. A continuous row of small resorts, bars and restaurants runs along much of the frontage while the western aspect gives reliable sunset views.
Development is concentrated behind the beach; services, shops and the main ferry pier are a short ride or walk away in Saladan village.
Geographically the beach faces the Andaman Sea on Koh Lanta’s west side and is part of the island’s main tourism zone, connected by regular ferries to the mainland and other islands.
- Beach size: A sandy, gently sloping shoreline roughly 3 kilometers long with shallow water at typical low to mid tides.
- Access: Located on the western coast of Koh Lanta, within easy reach of Saladan village and the island ferry terminal.

- Head to Khlong Dao in the late afternoon around low tide when the sandbars and shallow swimming areas are most interesting and the light is better for photos.
- Use the main Saladan-Khlong Dao access road to reach the central parking and then walk south along the sand to find the quieter western and southern stretches; many day-trippers concentrate near the central hotel zone.
- Skip the busiest strip in front of the largest resorts and continue toward the beach's southern end - small local restaurants and quieter sand make for an easier, less crowded experience.
