How to Get to Għajnsielem
Għajnsielem is a harbour village on Gozo; most visitors arrive via Malta International Airport (MLA) then cross by the Gozo Channel ferry from Ċirkewwa to Mġarr. The island has no rail service; buses and taxis provide onward connections on Gozo.
Malta International Airport (MLA): The island’s only airport; to reach Għajnsielem on Gozo you will combine land and sea. From MLA take a taxi to Ċirkewwa ferry terminal (approximately 40-50 minutes, taxi ~€30-€40) or a bus to Valletta and then a connecting bus to Ċirkewwa; the Gozo Channel ferry from Ċirkewwa to Mġarr (Gozo) takes about 25 minutes and costs around €4.65 one-way for foot passengers.

Train: There is no train network in Malta.
Bus: From the airport or Valletta use Malta Public Transport to reach Ċirkewwa; buses take roughly 40-60 minutes to the terminal and cost about €2.00-€2.50 per leg. On arrival in Mġarr (Gozo) local buses connect to Għajnsielem (a short 10-15 minute ride) for a few euros; taxis are available at the Gozo ferry terminal for faster transfers.
How to Get Around Għajnsielem #
Għajnsielem (Mgarr area) is easy to navigate on foot around the harbour and village core. It’s the main entry point to Gozo by ferry, and Gozo’s bus network and local taxis link it to the rest of the island. Ferries run between Ċirkewwa (Malta) and Mgarr; buses on Gozo are frequent enough for day trips. Practical tip: if you plan to explore Gozo broadly, consider renting a scooter or car.
