Country Weather in June

Country High Low Rain UV Feels

Representative figures from each country's largest city. High / low are average daily temperatures (°C); “Feels” allows for humidity.

Iberia (Spain & Portugal, including the Balearics and Canary influence)

Cooler, drier weather returns through October and November across much of Iberia’s interior; Madrid and Salamanca get chilly nights while Lisbon and coastal areas stay mild and comfortable. Rain becomes more frequent in Galicia and the Cantabrian coast as Atlantic lows arrive; bring waterproof shoes for wet, cobbled streets. Low-season hotel deals appear, and cities are much more walkable without summer crowds.

The British Isles & Atlantic France (United Kingdom, Ireland, northern/Atlantic France, Benelux coasts)

Sunshine peaks in June across southern England and the Low Countries, with comfortable temperatures (around 18-22°C) and long daylight hours - ideal for sightseeing and late-evening al fresco dining. Atlantic coasts remain cooler and breezier; ferry crossings to Brittany or Normandy are usually calm. Crowds grow, especially in London and Paris, so plan key museum visits early and expect higher prices and busier trains.

The Alps & Central Europe (Switzerland, Austria, southern Germany, Slovenia, northern Italy)

June brings reliable long daylight and warm yet not oppressive temperatures in lowlands; Salzburg’s festivals begin and alpine huts open higher up. Snow remains on the highest peaks, providing dramatic scenery for climbers and photographers, while valleys are lush and green. Pack a mix of warm and light clothing: afternoons can be warm, but storms in the mountains form quickly and afternoons often see showers or thunderstorms.

The Mediterranean & Adriatic Coast (Italy south of the Po, southern France’s Riviera, Croatia, Greece, Malta)

June sees hot, dry days across the south: coastal resorts from Amalfi to the Dalmatian coast warm into the high 20s°C and sea temperatures are comfortable for swimming. Peak-summer crowds begin to arrive, especially on well-known islands like Santorini and Capri; book accommodations early. High-season events and festivals increase noise and bustle, so quieter villages are the best choice for a relaxed stay.

Northern & Eastern Europe (Scandinavia, the Baltics, Poland and the western edge of Russia’s European plain)

June offers the famous long days of the north: Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki enjoy very late sunsets and the midnight sun prevails above the Arctic Circle, ideal for hiking and long drives. Temperatures are comfortable rather than hot, usually in the mid-teens to low 20s°C, and insect activity (mosquitoes in Finland) can be notable in wet inland areas - bring repellent for outdoor camping and lakeside trips.
