How to Get to Duong Dong#
Duong Dong is Phu Quoc’s main town and is best reached by flying into Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) or by ferry from southern Vietnam. On the island, taxis and motorbike taxis are the primary practical transport choices.
Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC): The island’s airport is the primary gateway to Duong Dong. From PQC to Duong Dong town centre it’s about 10-20 minutes by taxi or motorbike taxi; taxis are plentiful at the terminal and the short transfer is straightforward.
Mainland airports (Rach Gia / Ha Tien): If arriving by ferry from the mainland, use Rach Gia or Ha Tien as the mainland gateways-those towns have ferry services to Phu Quoc with crossing times typically 2-3 hours depending on the route.
Ferry: Ferries from Rach Gia or Ha Tien to Phu Quoc land at Bai Vong or An Thoi depending on the operator; travel times and schedules vary by season. From the island’s ports, local taxis and motorbike taxis take you to Duong Dong.
Bus / Shuttle: There are airport- and hotel-run shuttles on Phu Quoc; local bus infrastructure is limited but taxis and Grab-style ride-hailing (where available) handle most local trips.
How to Get Around Duong Dong#
Phu Quoc travel relies on short taxi and motorbike rides once you land in Duong Dong. Ferries provide mainland connections; on-island travel is best done by taxi, motorbike or organized shuttles.
- Taxi (VND 100,000-250,000) - Taxis from Phu Quoc Airport to Duong Dong are quick and convenient for luggage; fares are relatively low for short island distances. Official airport taxis queue at the terminal-confirm the fare before you start if the meter isn’t used.
- Motorbike taxi / GrabBike (VND 20,000-100,000) - Motorbike taxis are the cheapest and fastest way to negotiate island traffic for solo travellers. Use local ride-hailing apps where available, and always agree a price or use the app fare.
- Ferry (from mainland) - Ferries from Rach Gia or Ha Tien arrive on Phu Quoc at various jetties; crossings take 2-3 hours depending on service. Ferries are useful if you prefer overland travel from southern Vietnam.
