This is peak window for reliable boat travel and island-hopping; markets bustle quietly with locals rather than pounding tourist crowds. Strong midday sun means good sun protection for beach days and reef snorkels, plus a windproof layer for evening dinners on the waterfront.

Mount Karthala & central highlands (Grande Comore interior)

August remains dry and cool, ideal for long treks and photography of the highland landscapes. Vegetation is less waterlogged, and the trail network is most reliable for multi-day routes and crater visits. The only caveat is stronger trade-wind exposure on exposed ridgelines, so a windproof shell is useful and summit attempts are best scheduled for early morning to avoid afternoon gusts.
