How to Get to Bantayan Island #
Bantayan Island is served by roll-on/roll-off ferries from Hagnaya Port in San Remigio on northern Cebu. From Cebu City, take a bus or van from the North Bus Terminal to Hagnaya (several hours by road), then the ferry to Santa Fe, Bantayan (about an hour depending on the service). From Santa Fe port the main town and beaches are a short walk or a few minutes by tricycle/taxi.
Tips for Visiting Bantayan Island #
- Take the Hagnaya (Cebu) to Sta. Fe (Bantayan) ferry-most visitors reach the island by bus from Cebu City to Hagnaya Port, then the regular ferry to Santa Fe.
- Catch an early ferry to maximize daylight on arrival-the island's services and shops are concentrated around Sta. Fe, and later ferries can fill up on peak travel days.
- If you want quieter beaches, base yourself around Madridejos in the north rather than the busier Sta. Fe town; Madridejos and the northern coast tend to be far less developed and less crowded.
- Don't miss Ogtong Cave near Sta. Fe for a different experience than open beaches-if you plan to visit the private cave resort, check entry times or book ahead as access is sometimes limited to guests or day visitors with a reservation.
