How to Get to Aguas Claras
Aguas Claras (Ceiba) is typically reached via Luis Muñoz Marín Airport (SJU) followed by a road transfer; if your trip includes Vieques or Culebra, plan connections with the Ceiba ferry terminal. Renting a car or booking transfers gives the greatest reliability.
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU): For Aguas Claras (Ceiba) most visitors fly into SJU and then travel eastwards. From SJU a taxi or rideshare to Ceiba takes roughly 50-75 minutes and can cost about USD 60-100 depending on exact drop-off point. Car rental at SJU is the most flexible option for reaching Ceiba and the ferry terminal.
Fernando Ribas Dominicci Airport / Isla Grande (SIG) and regional options: Isla Grande (SIG) in San Juan is primarily for general aviation and not a major commercial hub; Ceiba’s ferry terminal (not an airport) is the primary gateway to Vieques and Culebra. If you’re connecting to the islands, coordinate ferry or small-plane services from Ceiba or San Juan accordingly.
Train: Tren Urbano operates inside the San Juan metro area only and does not reach Ceiba.
Bus: Intercity buses and shared taxis can connect Ceiba with other eastern towns, but schedules are limited and often require transfers. For reliable transfers to the Ceiba ferry terminal (for Vieques/Culebra), private transfers or rental cars are recommended.
