How to Get to Playa Fortuna
Playa Fortuna is in the Luquillo area on Puerto Rico's northeast coast. Visitors usually arrive via San Juan (SJU) and travel by road the final distance to Luquillo and nearby beaches.
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU): San Juan’s airport is the primary international gateway; Playa Fortuna (Luquillo area) is about 40-70 minutes’ drive from SJU depending on traffic. Car rental, taxis and ride-hail are the usual options to complete the trip.
Ceiba (regional) / smaller airports: Ceiba (formerly Roosevelt Roads) and small airstrips have limited or charter service; for scheduled commercial flights use SJU and then travel by road to Luquillo/Playa Fortuna.
Train: Puerto Rico has no intercity passenger rail service to Luquillo.
Bus: Intercity buses and shared vans run between San Juan and the eastern coast (Luquillo); journey times are about 40-70 minutes depending on origin and stops. Local buses serve short hops in the Luquillo area.
