Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes

A serial cultural landscape in Quang Ninh province in northern Vietnam that groups several historic Buddhist and ritual sites - Yen Tu, Vinh Nghiem, and Con Son-Kiep Bac - together with their surrounding landscapes. The complex is associated with the development of Vietnamese Zen Buddhism and long-standing pilgrimage practices.

Mountain-top temples on Yen Tu reached by stairways and tracks through forested karst, ritual complexes at Vinh Nghiem, and a series of coastal plain shrines in the Con Son-Kiep Bac cluster. The sites combine built temple architecture with natural features used for religious retreat and ceremonies.

The monuments and routes developed over many centuries as centers of Buddhist practice and pilgrimage, with local rulers and monastic communities contributing to construction and maintenance. The landscape records layers of religious activity and continuing living traditions.

The sites are distributed in Quang Ninh province in northern Vietnam, spanning upland karst around Yen Tu and lower-lying temple complexes closer to the coast; they are accessible from regional towns and transport links in the province.
