Hoàn Kiếm Lake is in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. It’s easily reached by taxi, motorbike taxi or local buses to the Old Quarter; most visitors arrive on foot once in the Old Quarter. From Hanoi Railway Station or the main bus hubs expect a short taxi ride of 10-20 minutes depending on traffic.

• Visit Hoan Kiem Lake early in the morning to see local Tai Chi practitioners, enjoy cooler air and avoid the busiest tourist periods around mid-morning and late afternoon.
