How to Get to Yeghvard
Yeghvard is a small town north of Yerevan; most travellers arrive via Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport and complete the journey overland. Regional minibuses (marshrutkas) and intercity buses are the typical links between Yerevan and Yeghvard.
Zvartnots International Airport (EVN), Yerevan: Zvartnots is the main international airport serving central Armenia. From the airport you can take a taxi to Yerevan city centre (approx. 20-30 minutes depending on traffic) and from Yerevan continue to Yeghvard by marshrutka (minibus) or regional bus.
Shirak Airport (LWN), Gyumri: Shirak is much farther northwest and only useful if you plan to approach Yeghvard via Gyumri; overland transfer times are long (several hours).
Train: Armenia’s rail network has limited passenger services; there is no direct, frequent train service to Yeghvard from Yerevan, so trains are not the usual option.
Bus / Marshrutka: From Yerevan take a marshrutka or regional bus toward Kotayk province or the town of Yeghvard. Marshrutkas leave from Yerevan’s central bus hubs (e.g., Northern Bus Station / Vanadzor direction hubs) and the trip takes roughly 30-60 minutes depending on route and traffic; check local departure points in Yerevan for up-to-date schedules.
How to Get Around Yeghvard #
Yeghvard is small and mostly walkable - the town centre and nearby sights are best reached on foot. For trips beyond town, marshrutkas (minibuses) and regional buses connect Yeghvard with Yerevan and neighbouring villages; taxis are available but fares are modest compared with Western Europe. If you plan winery or countryside visits, consider hiring a taxi or arranging transport through a guesthouse, since rural stops can be infrequent and schedules vary.
