How to Get to Masis, Armenia#

Masis is a town in Ararat Province south of Yerevan and is most easily reached via Zvartnots International Airport (Yerevan). From Yerevan, regional minibuses and buses are the usual, cost-effective way to reach Masis.

By Air

Zvartnots International Airport (EVN, Yerevan): Zvartnots is the main international airport serving Ararat Province and Yerevan. From Zvartnots you can take a taxi directly to Masis (about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic) or first travel into Yerevan and continue by bus or minibus; airport taxis vary in price and should be agreed in advance.

Shirak / Others: There are no closer major international airports; Shirak (GYU) near Gyumri is far from Masis and not practical for most visitors to Ararat Province.

By Train & Bus

Train: Armenia has limited passenger rail services; Yerevan has the main railway station (Yerevan Central). Direct regular rail connections to Masis are not a reliable option for most travelers.

Bus / Marshrutka: The most common way to reach Masis is by marshrutka (minibus) or regional bus from Yerevan. Marshrutkas depart from several Yerevan minibuses stations and take roughly 30-60 minutes depending on route; fares are low and vary by operator.

How to Get Around Masis, Armenia#

Expect to use Zvartnots Airport + taxi or a transfer into Yerevan and then marshrutka/bus to reach Masis. Marshrutkas are the most common local option - cheap and frequent - while taxis give more comfort and door-to-door service.

  • Taxi from Zvartnots (Varies widely - typically paid in AMD) - Taxis from Zvartnots to Masis are the most direct option and take around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Use the official airport taxi desk or a trusted app/service and agree the fare beforehand; this is convenient if you have luggage.
  • Marshrutka / Minibus (Low (small number of thousands of AMD)) - Marshrutkas run frequently between Yerevan and towns in Ararat Province including Masis. They are inexpensive and relatively fast; expect a shared, compact minibus experience with luggage stored onboard. Departure points in Yerevan include a number of collective minibus hubs.
  • Intercity Bus (Low (comparable to marshrutka)) - Regional buses from Yerevan to Ararat Province operate from bus stations in Yerevan and offer a more comfortable seat than marshrutkas. Schedules are less frequent; check the local station for exact departure times.
  • Train (limited) (Varies) - Armenia’s passenger rail network is limited and not the most practical for Masis for many travelers. If you prefer rail, check current timetables at Yerevan Central - services can be infrequent.
  • Taxi within Masis / Car (Moderate (local AMD rates)) - Local taxis and car hire are useful for getting around Masis and nearby sites. Prices are affordable compared with many European countries but always confirm the fare in advance.
  • Walking - Masis is compact enough for walking short distances around the town centre and to nearby sites; sidewalks may be variable outside main streets.
