How to Get to Wejherowo#

Wejherowo is well connected to the Tricity (Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot) commuter network via SKM trains, making it an easy day‑trip from Gdańsk. Flying into Gdańsk Airport then using SKM or regional trains is the most practical approach.

By Air

Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN): Gdańsk is the nearest major airport (≈30-35 km). From GDN take suburban SKM train or an airport bus to Gdańsk Główny then SKM/commuter trains toward Gdynia and Wejherowo; total travel time to Wejherowo is about 35-50 minutes. Taxi from the airport to Wejherowo is around 30-45 minutes and costs roughly PLN 100-160.

Gdynia / Gdańsk rail connections via Gdynia Główna / Gdańsk Główny: If flying into Warsaw (WAW) or Poznań (POZ) you can transfer to intercity trains to Gdynia/Gdańsk and continue on the SKM commuter network to Wejherowo (total times vary widely by origin).

By Train & Bus

Train: Wejherowo is served by the SKM (Tricity commuter rail) and regional Polregio trains. From Gdańsk Główny or Gdynia Główna the SKM ride to Wejherowo takes about 25-40 minutes; single fares within the Tricity area are modest (a few złoty) and cheap compared with regional trains.

Bus: Regional buses connect Wejherowo with surrounding towns and villages; PKS and private carriers run routes to smaller communities. Buses are useful for short trips not covered by the SKM, with fares typically a few to a couple dozen złoty depending on distance.

How to Get Around Wejherowo#

Use the SKM commuter rail for the quickest, cheapest way to get to and around Wejherowo from the Tricity area. Local buses fill gaps away from the rail corridor, and the town centre is very walkable.

  • SKM commuter train (PLN 4-PLN 12) - SKM runs frequent services between Gdańsk, Gdynia and Wejherowo. Trains are punctual and cheap-ideal for commuting or day trips. Buy tickets at machines or via mobile apps; validate where required.
  • Regional train (Polregio / PKP Intercity) (PLN 6-PLN 30) - Regional and some intercity trains stop at Wejherowo-useful for longer-distance trips toward Gdańsk or inland. Tickets vary by operator and distance; reserve for intercity journeys in peak times.
  • Bus (local / regional) (PLN 3-PLN 20) - Local buses and regional coaches serve nearby villages and smaller towns. Buses complement the rail network for destinations off the SKM line; fares are small but schedules can be sparse on weekends.
  • Taxi / Rideshare (PLN 100-PLN 160) - Taxis are readily available for short hops or airport transfers; from Gdańsk airport a taxi to Wejherowo costs significantly more than the train but can be convenient with luggage. Use licensed taxis or ordered rides via apps where available.
  • Walking - Wejherowo’s centre is compact and pleasant to explore on foot, with parks and the old town within walking distance. Side streets and church complexes make for easy walking tours.
