How to Get to Jastarnia#
Jastarnia sits on the Hel Peninsula and is best reached via Gdańsk/Gdynia and then by regional rail or bus along the peninsula. Services are more frequent in summer when hel/peninsula traffic increases.
Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN): Gdańsk is the main airport for the Pomeranian/Kashubian coast. From GDN take a train or bus to Gdynia/Gdańsk and then regional rail or bus toward Hel Peninsula; journey to Jastarnia typically takes around 1.5-2.5 hours depending on connections.
Gdynia/Kosakowo (Rębiechowo no scheduled service): There is no major commercial airport on the peninsula itself; visitors generally fly into Gdańsk and continue by rail/bus/road.
Train: Use PKP services to Gdynia or Władysławowo. From Władysławowo you can catch regional trains (seasonal) or buses to Jastarnia; in summer there are additional direct services to Hel and Jastarnia.
Bus: Regional buses and local carriers run frequent services along the Hel Peninsula in summer and reduced timetables in winter. Buses connect Władysławowo, Jastarnia and other Hel Peninsula towns; check seasonal timetables as frequency changes markedly off-season.
How to Get Around Jastarnia#
Reach Jastarnia via Gdańsk/Gdynia then continue by regional train or bus along the Hel Peninsula. Summer services (trains, ferries, buses) are much more frequent, so plan accordingly if travelling off-season.
- Regional train (to Władysławowo/Hel) - PKP regional trains serve the route to Władysławowo and, in season, onward to Hel. Trains are a pleasant option in summer; in shoulder months check whether direct services are scheduled as they can be reduced.
- Regional bus - Local and regional buses run the length of the Hel Peninsula connecting Gdynia/Władysławowo with Jastarnia and Hel. Buses are frequent in high season and the most consistent option outside the limited train services.
- Ferry / boat (seasonal) - In summer there are passenger ferry services from Gdynia and other ports directly to Hel; these provide a scenic but seasonal alternative and may not call at Jastarnia directly (often Hel is the main ferry port). Check summer schedules.
- Car / driving - Driving the peninsula is straightforward but parking can be limited in peak season. Expect slow-moving traffic on busy summer days; a car is useful for flexibility outside peak tourist season.
- Bicycle - Cycling is popular on the peninsula - there are dedicated cycle lanes and quiet roads linking towns. Bikes can be taken on some local buses and ferries (seasonal rules apply).
- Walking - Jastarnia is compact and walkable; beaches, shops and restaurants are easy to reach on foot.
