Best Time to Visit Sopot#

Sopot is best in summer when the Baltic warms enough for beach days and lively promenades. Spring is pleasantly quiet; winters are cold and windy, limiting outdoor enjoyment.

Winter

December - February

-5°C to 2°C (23°F to 36°F)

Cold, windy Baltic winters can be raw and snowy - museums and cafés provide refuge but beachtime is out of the question.

Spring

March - May

0°C to 12°C (32°F to 54°F)

Brisk, gradually warming days are lovely for boardwalks and parks; still variable, so layers and a windproof jacket help.

Summer

June - August

15°C to 24°C (59°F to 75°F)

Pleasant, often sunny seaside days ideal for beaches, promenades and lively nightlife; peak season means more crowds and higher prices.

Climate

Sopot's climate is classified as Oceanic - Oceanic climate with mild summers (peaking in July) and freezing winters (coldest in January). Temperatures range from -3°C to 22°C. Moderate rainfall (620 mm/year).

From the airport take the SKM suburban rail (via Gdańsk Wrzeszcz/Gdańsk Główny) or a direct taxi; SKM to Sopot takes around 20-30 minutes and a single SKM ticket is typically in the ~3.80-5.00 PLN range. A taxi to Sopot usually takes 20-30 minutes and costs more (approx. PLN 60-100 depending on traffic).
