How to Get to Vittoriosa
Vittoriosa (Birgu) sits beside the Grand Harbour opposite Valletta and is reached via Malta International Airport (MLA). With no rail network on Malta, the most reliable public options are buses, harbour ferries or taxis from Valletta and the airport.
Malta International Airport (MLA): The island’s only airport at Luqa serves Vittoriosa (Birgu) via Valletta. From MLA a taxi to Vittoriosa takes around 15-25 minutes and costs €20-€35; alternatively take the airport bus to Valletta (€2.00) and then a short bus or taxi to Vittoriosa (around €2.00 by bus, 10 minutes).

Train: Malta has no train services.
Bus: Regular Tallinja buses run between Valletta and the Three Cities area (Cospicua, Vittoriosa, Senglea); the trip from Valletta to Vittoriosa is typically 10-15 minutes and costs about €2.00. Harbour ferries and water taxis also connect Valletta and the Three Cities and can be quicker and more scenic than the bus at slightly higher cost.

It’s well connected by Malta Public Transport buses, and small ferries or water taxis link the Three Cities to Valletta. Taxis are available and car parking is limited; walking between sights is usually faster. Practical tip: expect narrow streets and bring comfortable shoes for cobbles and steps.
