How to Get to Tarxien
Tarxien is easy to reach via Malta International Airport (MLA). There is no rail network on Malta, so buses (Tallinja) and taxis are the practical ways to get to town.
Malta International Airport (MLA): The island’s single international airport, located near Luqa, is the arrival point for almost all flights to Malta. From MLA you can take a Tallinja bus toward Valletta and change for a local service to Tarxien; expect a total journey of about 35-45 minutes. A single Tallinja fare is commonly €2.00 (payable with the Tallinja card or contactless) while a taxi to Tarxien takes about 15-25 minutes and typically costs around €15-25.
Train: Malta has no national rail network, so trains are not an option for reaching Tarxien.
Bus: Malta Public Transport (branded Tallinja) runs frequent routes across the island with Valletta as the main hub; there are direct local buses serving Tarxien from Valletta and other towns. Single fares on Tallinja services are typically €2.00 (contactless/Tallinja card) and trips from Valletta to Tarxien take about 10-15 minutes; from the airport (with a change) allow 35-45 minutes.
