Temperatures typically fall back into the low to mid‑20s°C, and Hoi An’s evening markets are particularly enjoyable in the cooler air. This is a favored shoulder season for combining beaches with inland sightseeing without the high summer heat.
Da Lat, Buôn Ma Thuột, Kon Tum
December returns the cool, misty mornings and chilly nights typical of highland winters; Da Lat’s temperatures often drop to near 10°C overnight though daytime sunshine can be pleasantly warm. The dry season means good visibility for mountain vistas and early-morning photography, and fewer mosquitoes make forest walks more enjoyable. Pack warm sleepwear and a mid‑weight jacket - mornings and evenings are the months when you’ll notice the altitude the most.
Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Phú Quốc
December returns the dry, pleasant conditions that make the south most inviting: low rainfall, warm days and cooler evenings are ideal for island hopping to Phú Quốc or sampling the floating markets around Can Tho. Tourist numbers rise again, so book accommodations and river tours in advance for weekends. Lightweight clothing, a sun hat and insect repellent for evening riverbank dining will cover most needs.
