Northern Highlands (Sapa, Ha Giang, Lao Cai)

October marks a marked improvement: autumn spells of clear, cool weather return and the mountain views sharpen; Sapa and Ha Giang are crisp, with daytime highs around 15-20°C and chilly nights. This is one of the best months for trekking - trails dry quickly, homestays reopen in force, and the post-monsoon light makes for excellent landscape shots. Hanoi & Red River Delta

October is one of the most pleasant months in Hanoi: cool, dry air and comfortable daytime temperatures around the mid‑20s°C make walking and cycling enjoyable again. Autumn festivals and clearer skies mean good conditions for exploring the temples and taking day trips to Ninh Binh or Halong Bay before the winter chill sets in.
