How to Get to Tisno#
Tisno is best reached via Zadar or Split airports with onward bus or car travel; Zadar is the shorter connection. Because Tisno sits on the Dalmatian coast and near islands, buses and car transfers are the most convenient for the final leg.
Zadar Airport (ZAD): ZAD is the closest airport to Tisno. From Zadar Airport take a shuttle to Zadar city/ferry port (20-30 minutes, ~25-40 HRK) and then a bus toward Šibenik/Tisno or drive south - overall travel time to Tisno approximately 1-1.5 hours by bus or 40-70 minutes by car.
Split Airport (SPU): SPU is also commonly used for Tisno, particularly outside Zadar’s peak season. From Split Airport a shuttle to Split city (20-30 minutes) then a bus to Tisno takes about 1.5-2.5 hours total depending on connections.
Train: There is no direct train to Tisno. The nearest railheads are in Šibenik and Zadar; from there you must continue by bus or car.
Bus: Intercity buses from Zadar or Split to Tisno (or nearby towns like Murter/Betina) are frequent in summer; journey times from Zadar are around 60-90 minutes and fares typically range 40-80 HRK depending on operator and season. In high season check schedules in advance.
How to Get Around Tisno#
Arrive via Zadar (closest) or Split and continue by bus or car; for full flexibility hire a car. Public buses work well in season but can be sparse off-peak, so plan ahead for connections to islands and beaches.
- Intercity bus (40-80 HRK) - Buses link Zadar and Split with Tisno and nearby coastal towns, especially during the tourist season. Timetables expand in summer - buy tickets at stations or from carriers. Buses are the practical public option for most visitors.
- Car hire (~EUR 30-70/day) - Renting a car is the most flexible way to reach Tisno and to explore the surrounding coastline and islands. Driving from Zadar to Tisno takes about 40-70 minutes; parking near beaches and marinas is generally available though busier in summer.
- Taxi / transfer (200+ HRK (airport transfer ranges widely)) - Taxis or private transfers from airport or ferry ports offer direct door-to-door service and can be worth the cost for groups or heavy luggage. Pre-booking in peak season is recommended.
- Ferry / boat (nearby islands) (Varies by route; short trips around tens of HRK) - Tisno is on the coast with nearby island connections (e.g., Murter). Seasonal boat services and local charters serve the area - great for island hopping though schedules are seasonal and weather-dependent.
- Local buses / shuttles (10-30 HRK) - Local buses cover short journeys along the coast and to nearby towns; frequency is highest in summer and more limited off-season. Useful for short hops if you don’t have a car.
- Walking - Tisno’s town centre and waterfront are compact and best explored on foot - walking is the easiest way to move between beaches, restaurants and shops.
