How to Get to Šibenik#
Šibenik is served primarily by road connections to Split and Zadar airports; buses are the main intercity transport. The town is not well‑served by passenger rail, so buses or car transfers are the usual choices.
Split Airport (SPU): The closest major airport to Šibenik, about 50-60 km away. From Split Airport buses and coach services run to Šibenik (roughly 1-1.5 hours depending on stops); taxi or car transfer is faster but more expensive.
Zadar Airport (ZAD): Another nearby airport, north of Šibenik. Bus transfers from Zadar to Šibenik take around 1-1.5 hours; services are seasonal and frequent in summer.
Train: Šibenik has limited/no regular passenger rail service connecting it directly with the national rail network; rail is not the practical option for most visitors.
Bus: Intercity buses are the primary public transport mode. Šibenik’s main bus station (Autobusni kolodvor Šibenik) has frequent connections to Split, Zadar, Zagreb and coastal towns. Journey times to Split are about 1-1.5 hours and fares are affordable.
How to Get Around Šibenik#
Use airport coaches and intercity buses to reach Šibenik; inside town walking and cycling are ideal. There is no practical passenger rail link, so road transport is the default.
- Intercity bus (Autobusni kolodvor Šibenik) (HRK low-moderate) - Main connection for Šibenik to Split, Zadar and Zagreb. Buses are frequent, comfortable and often the fastest public option for coastal travel - buy tickets at the station or online where available.
- Airport shuttle / coach (Split/Zadar ↔ Šibenik) (moderate) - Direct coach services link regional airports to Šibenik in about 1-1.5 hours. Timetables are seasonal - check operators in advance, especially outside summer months.
- Car hire / taxi (moderate-high) - Renting a car gives maximum flexibility for exploring nearby national parks and islands. Taxis are available for direct transfers but are pricier than buses.
